My job involves managing large projects with my international colleagues. Compared to my co-workers, I always felt that my English was adequate. Not outstandingly good, but not particularly bad either. So, when my supervisor suggested participating in an English language coaching course, I found it a bit strange. But I also thought, ‚Well, it can’t hurt.‘

The first meeting with Sarah was very pleasant. She asked me lots of questions about my field of work and my requirements. During the conversation, we switched to English and continued chatting. The next day, I discussed an assessment of my English skills, a specific training proposal, and concrete goals with my boss. connTEXT had already analysed and presented everything.

Sarah is my secret career booster.

The suggested 8 weeks flew by. Training was twice every week, each session lasting 2 hours. Sarah covered everything we had agreed on: general training, important technical terms for me, and telephone training (with a real phone). We didn’t just cram vocabulary; we simulated realistic meeting scenarios. This allowed me to evaluate and improve my overall performance.

As a result of my individual training, I have improved my English considerably. My vocabulary and speaking skills are much better. I feel very confident discussing technical matters with my colleagues. And that’s where the real results start for me: my work, and that of the entire team, has become much more efficient. We just completed one of our projects – two weeks ahead of schedule. Last week, my boss called me into his office, promised me a big bonus, and promised me a promotion for next year. I am really proud of myself and my team.

After that, I called Sarah to share the great news and simply say ‚thank you.‘ (And to schedule my next training session with her :-))
